Realign Your Spine and Restore Joint Motion
A “chiropractic adjustment” refers to the specific force that a chiropractor applies to vertebrae that are misaligned or have abnormal movement patterns. The main purpose of the adjustment is to remove interference in the nervous system caused by “subluxations” or misalignments of vertebrae. When interference in the nervous system is removed, the body is able to function at its optimal level and you can become the best version of yourself!
Adjustments consist of a quick, controlled thrust applied to a specific vertebra, which are often accompanied by an audible release of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide gas from the joint capsule. This audible “popping” or “cracking” sound, known as a cavitation, relieves pressure from the joint capsule.
Adjustments usually feel good, though minor discomfort (which usually only lasts a short period of time) has been reported if the surrounding muscles are in spasm or if the patient tenses up during the adjustment.
There are times when joint cavitation does not occur during the adjustment. The “cracking” sound is not what’s important in an adjustment. What is important is that alignment and proper motion are restored in the joint, and that can happen without there being a cavitation!
